Welcome to the 2nd annual Chicago Caribbean JerkFest – the Chitown JerkFest as patrons have affectionately named it is expected to attract up to 5,000 West Indians and non-West Indians who embrace all things Caribbean in celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month – JUNE!!!

Showcasing products and services before this active consumer proves to be an effective marketing tool for growth-oriented companies. Targeting the receptive Caribbean-American consumer is an excellent means to enhance your bottom-line through increased awareness and product involvement.

The Chitown JerkFest is produced specifically to highlight the cultural aspects of the Caribbean without the expense of an airline ticket.

Comprised of a small group of local community leaders, the CCJF saw a need to showcase to Chicago and other Midwest communities the more positive aspects of the Caribbean region while dispelling some of the myths associated with the islands of the Caribbean.

Through its Passing on the Traditions program, scholarships are granted to local school students in the Midwest and the Caribbean encouraging them to stay in school and obtain an education. This is a perfect vehicle to promote the contributions that Caribbean Americans make to the professional, business and sports communities.

Proceeds from the CCJF help to fund the scholarships and help to promote this year’s initiative – raising awareness in the Midwest Caribbean communities and the Caribbean islands on the effects of HIV and Aids in the Caribbean (second only to Africa with this deadly disease).

Droves of festival goers will travel across the U.S. eager to indulge in fun, potential business opportunities and immersing themselves in the culture of the Caribbean. Your participation in this year’s CCJF will aide in promoting educational and cultural excellence. Please CONTACT US to discover how you can partake in this auspicious occasion.

Are YOU ready to take the next step?

CARIBBEANS:
THE NEW TARGET POPULATION
"They want to be addressed as “Americans of Caribbean descent”
and not as “Afro-Americans.”

An interesting target market is the fast growing group of Americans of Caribbean descent in the USA.  Although they are American, they have strong bonds with the region and culture they came from.  It’s an economically viable and growing group.

They are loyal buyers of consumer goods, go on vacation, own homes and send their children to college at a higher rate than the African American population. (Black Diversity Study, August 2003,
University  of Albany, State University of New York)

This community is estimated to have contributed some $60 billion in remittances to economies in the   Caribbean and Latin America region in 2006.

They are becoming a sizable portion of the middle-class American voting population.  The US government is also aware of this and passed H. Con. Res. 71 (H. Res. 570 in the 108th Congress to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of Caribbean-Americans to the US since the inception of the country and to designate June as the National Caribbean-American Heritage Month.
